Learn to speak and sing more freely under pressure.

DIVE DEEP

Whether you are speaking to an audience, teaching, presenting, leading an important meeting, or singing on stage or in the studio: tension when it matters is normal.

But sometimes that tension takes over. You get a dry mouth, start breathing more shallowly, feel pressure on your chest or tension in your throat. Your speaking or singing voice becomes weaker, less stable or less free and your thoughts seem to suddenly go in all directions.

Your body and brain switch to an increased state of readiness. This affects not only how you feel, but also how you breathe, move, think and use your voice.

During this DIVE DEEP you discover how mindset, body and voice respond to each other when you are under pressure. You learn to recognise tension more quickly and receive concrete techniques to redirect your attention, body and voice in the moment.

The goal is not to never be nervous again. You learn to function with tension, so that you can still access your voice, message and expression under pressure.

What does tension do to you and your voice?

During this DIVE DEEP, Tiffany Veys helps you to recognise what happens to you and your voice when the tension rises. You then receive practical exercises to deal with the tension and refocus your attention on what you want to say, sing or convey.

An important part of the workshop is a group exercise with HELI, the coaching game from Mind The Voice.

You start from a concrete moment when you experience stress or performance pressure. With the I-card and other cards, you literally lay out in front of you which feelings, needs, people, thoughts and physical complaints or signals are involved in that moment.

This gives you a clear overview of your personal stress response. You learn to observe calmly what is happening, without immediately pushing the tension away or judging yourself for it. Afterwards, we explore what helps you to accept, regulate, and speak or sing more firmly again.

What can you expect?

  • Insight into your personal stress response
  • You learn to recognise how tension manifests in your thoughts, feelings, needs, breathing, body, and voice.
  • A guided exercise with HELI
  • Using the I-card as a starting point, you map out a specific moment of stress. You make visible which feelings, needs, people, thoughts, and physical signals are connected.
  • Mindful observation and acceptance
  • You learn to observe your stress response without immediately fighting it, judging it, or pushing it away. This creates space to respond consciously.
  • Stress and emotion regulation
  • You receive concrete techniques to deal with rising tension and to create more stability, breathing space, and overview again.
  • Physical stability
  • With physical exercises, you discover how your body can provide more support when the pressure increases.
  • Using your voice under tension
  • You experience how stress affects your speaking or singing voice and practice how to better maintain your breath flow, vocal cord closure, and vocal freedom.
  • Practicing in the presence of others
  • The group provides a realistic level of performance pressure. In a safe, guided environment, you practice how to remain present when others are listening to or watching you.
  • The application to speaking or singing
  • You apply the techniques during a short concrete speaking or singing task of 5 minutes. This way you discover which strategies help you to communicate or perform more freely under pressure.
